# Maintainers

Who reviews and merges what in AutoRAG. Project organization, decision rights, and
the path to becoming a maintainer are defined in [GOVERNANCE.md](GOVERNANCE.md);
this file is the roster that goes with it.

## Ownership and operation

- **Project owner:** Marker Inc. (주식회사 마커) — holds the copyright jointly with
NomaDamas and owns the repository and project assets. Ownership-level decisions
(license, repository transfer, archival) are reserved to Marker Inc.
- **Operating organization:** [NomaDamas](https://github.com/NomaDamas) — runs the
project day to day: review, triage, roadmap, releases, technical direction.

## Project lead

- **Dongkyu Kim** — [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) (vkehfdl1@gmail.com).
Final point of escalation for any decision not explicitly assigned in
  [GOVERNANCE.md](GOVERNANCE.md).

## Maintainers with write access

Snapshot of repository access, taken from GitHub on 2026-09-20. GitHub remains the
source of truth for who currently holds access.

| Maintainer | Access | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) | admin | project lead; all AutoRAG 2.0 areas |
| [@Cheol-H-Jeong](https://github.com/Cheol-H-Jeong) | admin | repository administration |
| [@taehalim](https://github.com/taehalim) | admin | repository administration |
| [@HaD0Yun](https://github.com/HaD0Yun) | maintain | review and merge rights |

Access is also granted through a repository team: **RAG 연구팀** (a Marker Inc. team)
holds maintain permission here, so its members can review and merge without appearing
in the direct-collaborator list above. Maintainers who lose access through a team
change remain maintainers in the governance sense until NomaDamas or the project lead
records otherwise.

## Area coverage

Areas are also how we route review. Paths are relative to the repository root.

| Area | Paths | Primary reviewer |
|---|---|---|
| Agent loop, tools, and prompt | `src/agent/`, `src/web/`, `skills/` | [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) |
| Retrieval, MinSync | `src/retrieval/`, `src/minsync/` | [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) |
| Datasource skills | `src/datasource/`, `scripts/manual-qa/` | [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) |
| CLI, embedding | `src/cli/`, `src/embedding/` | [@vkehfdl1](https://github.com/vkehfdl1) |
| Tests, CI, live end-to-end | `test/`, `scripts/`, `.github/workflows/` | NomaDamas maintainers |
| Supply chain and licensing gates | `scripts/supply-chain/`, `NOTICE`, `licenses/` | NomaDamas maintainers |
| Documentation | `README.md`, `docs/`, `CONTRIBUTING.md` | NomaDamas maintainers |
| Legacy Python AutoRAG | `legacy/` | NomaDamas maintainers |

Rows that name the team rather than one person are areas where we do not yet have a
single sustained owner on record; any maintainer may review them, and the project
lead assigns an area lead when a contributor wants one.

## Review expectations

- The `main` rulesets define the gate: `main-ci-required` (required status checks on
an up-to-date branch) and `main-review-required` (one approving review, squash-only
merges). Two approvals are not required.
- Reviewers look for scope discipline (one logical change), tests that can fail,
verbatim error reporting, and secrets staying outside config and argv. See
  [CONTRIBUTING.md](CONTRIBUTING.md) for the contributor side.
- A maintainer who is also the pull request author should not self-approve a change
that touches a required-status-check workflow, the license, or `GOVERNANCE.md`.
- Maintainers are expected to follow the [Code of Conduct](CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md) and to
  enforce it.

## Becoming a maintainer

- NomaDamas members may be granted maintainer rights by NomaDamas.
- External contributors may be approved as maintainers by NomaDamas after sustained,
high-quality contributions — typically nominated by an existing maintainer with
  sign-off from the project lead.
- Maintainers who are inactive for an extended period may be moved to emeritus status
by NomaDamas, and reinstated on return.
