TECHCORP ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW — 2024
Employee: Marcus Johnson
Title: Product Manager
Department: Product
Manager: Lisa Chen (VP of Product)
Review Period: January 2024 – December 2024

OVERALL RATING: Meets Expectations (3/5)

PERFORMANCE SUMMARY:
Marcus delivered on his core roadmap commitments for the Meridian integration project. He successfully launched three features on schedule and managed stakeholder expectations well during the Q2 scope change. His market research for the enterprise tier expansion was thorough and well-received by leadership.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Shipped Meridian API v2 integration on time, enabling $340K in new ARR
- Conducted competitive analysis that directly informed Q4 pricing strategy
- Ran successful beta program with 12 enterprise customers (NPS 72)

AREAS FOR DEVELOPMENT:
- Interpersonal friction with engineering lead Tom Harris has impacted sprint planning efficiency. Multiple team members have flagged communication breakdowns during planning sessions. Recommend facilitated working sessions in Q1.
- Needs to improve technical depth — several PRDs lacked sufficient API design detail, requiring engineering rework
- Sprint velocity tracking and capacity planning need improvement

COMPENSATION:
Current: $165,000 base + $25,000 equity (annual vest)
Recommended adjustment: $172,000 base (standard merit increase)
No equity refresh recommended at this time
Promotion timeline: Not eligible until Areas for Development are addressed (re-evaluate Q3 2025)

MANAGER NOTES (CONFIDENTIAL):
Marcus is solid but not exceptional. The friction with Tom is a real concern — I've had three separate engineers mention it in skip-levels. If it doesn't improve by Q2, we may need to reassign one of them to a different product area. Do not discuss the Tom situation in the review meeting; I'll handle it separately.
