Session header: the account picker joins the chip
2026-10-11. Frames are drawn at real app size (12px root) and shown at real size (1.3× on wide screens). On a phone, desktop frames open scrolled to the chip; swipe left for the title. Toggle light/dark top right.
Today
- Four mismatches with the chip: fully round vs 6px corners, 22px (20px on phone) vs 24px tall, filled vs transparent, regular vs medium weight.
- OpenCode has the same problem in the same spot.
InstanceBadgeMenuis avariant="pill"in Chakra Petch. Whatever wins here should be applied to both, since they occupy one slot.
A · First segment: who, then where, then what recommended
The account becomes the group's first cell: a plain Button size="segment" with the dot and name. The chip now reads left to right as who runs it, what it loaded, where it runs, and what you can do. Settle stays on the edge next to ⋯.
- Zero new styling: the cell is the same recipe as its neighbours.
- One border in the corner instead of two shapes.
- On a phone it adds a divider and 8px padding, so the branch truncates a little sooner.
B · Last segment
Same cell, at the far end of the group. Keeps the existing order untouched and puts the account where the pill stands today, so muscle memory carries over.
- Smallest move from today.
- Settle, the one action in the chip, is buried mid-group on desktop, and "personal" sits between it and ⋯.
C · Twin group beside the chip
The account keeps its own box, but the box is built from the chip's parts: 24px, 6px corners, transparent, one border. A trailing ⇕ says it's a picker, which a plain segment doesn't.
- Keeps "which account" visibly apart from "this session's state", if you think of it as a different kind of thing.
- Two boxes side by side, and the widest of the four on a phone.
D · Dot-only first segment
Variant A, but the cell shows only the account's colour. The name lives in the tooltip, the accessible label, and the switch menu's header. Optionally widens to dot + name when the bar has room (bottom frame, a container query).
Hybrid: name on wide bars, dot on narrow
- Costs 21px. The branch keeps almost all its room on a phone.
- Colour alone names the account. Fine with two accounts you know by colour, weak with four, and it hides which one you're on until you tap.
