The /nio skill — one umbrella entry, plus focused skills.
After install, your agent has an umbrella skill named nio. It routes on the first argument: scan, action, report, doctor, config, external-score, or reset. If you pass a path, it defaults to scan. On Claude Code and Codex each capability is also a focused standalone skill — see Focused skills.
Form
/nio <subcommand> [args...]
/nio <path> # shorthand for `scan <path>`
Trigger by platform: Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Hermes route /nio through their slash-command surface. Codex CLI does not currently support custom slash commands — there, the same skill is reachable via Codex's skill-trigger conventions: type $nio to invoke explicitly, or describe the action in natural language and Codex picks the skill from SKILL.md. The subcommand grammar below is identical across all platforms. See Focused skills for the per-capability standalone skills on Claude Code and Codex.
Focused skills (Claude Code & Codex)
On Claude Code and Codex, each capability is also published as a focused, single-purpose skill — so a plain-language request routes straight to the right tool instead of matching the broad umbrella and re-routing. The unified /nio stays the umbrella entry point and full reference.
| Focused skill | Does | Same as |
|---|---|---|
nio-scan | Scan code / a skill for execution risks | /nio scan |
nio-action | Evaluate a runtime action's safety | /nio action |
nio-report | Recent execution audit + diagnostics | /nio report |
nio-config | View / set protection level | /nio config |
nio-doctor | Validate config + connectivity | /nio doctor |
nio-external-score | Snapshot external scoring-endpoint scores | /nio external-score |
On Claude Code these are slash commands (/nio-scan, /nio-config, …). Codex has no slash commands — trigger with $nio-scan / $nio-external-score or natural language. OpenClaw and Hermes do not ship the focused skills; use the unified /nio <subcommand> there.
reset
Overwrite ~/.nio/config.yaml with the bundled config.default.yaml. Use after upgrades that changed the schema.
