The second paragraph adds more substance. Readability needs a minimum amount of content to distinguish the main article from boilerplate navigation and sidebar elements.

A third paragraph ensures we are well above the threshold. The algorithm scores nodes based on paragraph count, text length, and link density to find the best candidate.

Finally, a fourth paragraph to make absolutely sure this article is extracted correctly by the readability heuristics used in dom_smoothie.
