The brain exhibits remarkable plasticity[1] throughout the lifespan[2]. Studies show that adult neurogenesis[3,4] occurs in the hippocampus. Several independent groups[5] have confirmed these findings in both animal models[6,7] and human post-mortem tissue[8].

Furthermore, environmental enrichment[9] and physical exercise[10,11] have been shown to enhance neurogenesis rates significantly beyond baseline levels observed in sedentary controls[12].
