Important: We do not store user data on our servers or infrastructure. Souz is a desktop application, and your data is stored on your own computer. By using the app, you acknowledge and agree that your data, including geolocation data, may be transmitted to LLM APIs and to third-party services you connect through MCP.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Souz ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Souz desktop application and related website pages (such as this policy page). We are committed to transparency and privacy-by-default.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information we do not store on our servers

We do not operate a central user database for Souz and we do not store your chats, files, prompts, notes, credentials, or other user content on our servers.

2.2 Information stored locally on your device

Depending on how you use the App, Souz may store data locally on your device to provide functionality. This may include:

App settings and preferences
Local chat/session history and tool-related data
Connection settings for integrations you configure
API keys or tokens that you choose to add (stored locally; sensitive values may be encrypted locally)
Temporary files/cache created during app operation

Local storage is under your control and is not uploaded to us by default.

2.3 Website hosting logs (if applicable)

If you visit a website where this policy is hosted, the hosting provider may automatically process standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and request logs) to deliver the webpage and maintain security. This is generally handled by your website host, not by the Souz app itself.

3. How Information Is Used

Information handled by the App is used only to provide the functionality you request, such as:

Running the desktop assistant and its tools
Saving your local preferences and configuration
Connecting to third-party services that you explicitly configure and use
Improving reliability and security of local app behavior

Souz can connect to third-party services that you choose to use (for example, AI model APIs, email providers, calendar providers, messaging services, MCP servers, or other integrations). We do not sell your personal data.
We do not share your data with advertisers.
We do not monetize user content.

Because we do not store user data on our servers, in most cases we do not have access to your data to share.

6. Permissions and Device Access

The App may request or use system permissions/features depending on the tools you enable, such as access to files, microphone/audio, network, keyboard shortcuts, calendar, mail, or other device capabilities. These are used to provide requested functionality and can often be managed through your operating system settings.

7. Data Retention

We do not retain user data on our servers. Data stored locally on your device remains there until you delete it, reset the App, revoke integration credentials, or uninstall the App. Third-party services you use may retain data according to their own policies.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect user information within the App, including local security practices where applicable. However, no software or device environment is completely secure. You are responsible for securing your device, accounts, and credentials.

9. International Data Transfers

If you use third-party services through Souz, your data may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on those providers. Any such transfers are governed by the third party's policies and contractual terms.

Souz is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
